The Shepherd’s Vineyard Killer Whales are a summer recreational swim team that swims at the Pool at Shepherd’s Vineyard and competes in the Southern League of the Tarheel Swim Association. League dual meets are held on Tuesday evenings beginning June 11th through July 16th, 2019
All members of the Pool at Shepherd’s Vineyard who are ages 4 to 18 years as of June 1st are eligible to join the team. However (due to safety concerns) our coaches are asked to provide feedback re swimmers’ stroke proficiency and ability to swim prescribed distances by our initial Red/White meet. Our coaches offer private swim lessons and the Pool at Shepherd’s Vineyard offers small group swim lessons for swimmers who are not yet ready for the larger dual meets. Come join us! GO KILLER WHALES!!
The Tarheel Swimming Association (TSA) was created in 1971 to “promote and encourage competitive and recreational summer swimming for Wake County youth.” Today it consists of over 90 swim clubs in the greater Wake County area. Clubs are placed in either the north or south division based upon geographic location within Wake County. The leagues and scheduling committee strives to group teams into further subdivisions with other teams of equal strength by using dual meet data from the previous season. Three meets will be within in our assigned division and the other three meets will be out of our division, adding some interesting competition. Swim meets follow TSA rules for swimming meet management, competition and judging.
Be an informed parent and swimmer by frequently reviewing the TSA website and the TSA blog spot Tuesday Night Lights, which provides valuable information such as clinic schedules, other needs of teams, year round swim team activities and more.
